POWERWAVE AC POWER LINE VIDEO
TRANSMISSION COVERT CCTV CAMERAS
Carol Products has introduced the PowerWave (TM) series of covert CCTV cameras featuring transmission of black-and-white video signals over standard AC power wiring. The cameras, which are available in a variety of enclosures such as a radio, notebook binder, exit sign, emergency light and others, have a built-in power line transmitter.
To implement a covert surveillance, the user simply plugs the camera into any standard AC outlet. This connection powers the camera and provides the transmission path for the video signal. The user then chooses another location on the premises to plug in the video receiver. The signals are received and output, via RCA connector, to a monitor, recorder, switcher, multiplexer, additional transmitter or any other device the user chooses. The covert surveillance is established without snaking coaxial cables or trying to hide recording gear where it is not suitable.
PowerWave cameras are ideal for homes and offices or any location using single phase electricity. The video signal will not carry beyond a circuit breaker box, ensuring that the video cannot be viewed by an unauthorized party outside the premises. PowerWave transmissions are immune to virtually all types of power line interference including electric motors and fluorescent lighting, although they should not be plugged directly into a fluorescent lighting circuit.
